Solar Cell Phones On The Horizon? Already Here.
Source: UnwiredView

A few months ago there was a thread in the forum we run. People were speculating about solar cell phones. One guy was asking whether this could ever be feasible concept. Everyone was talking about pricing issues, technology issues, and so on.
We have since been doing a little research on the issue, and have discovered that a manufacturer in China has already made the concept work. HTW in China built the HTW s116, which is an environmentally friendly solar cell phone. The model has a 47.6×84×0.8 mm surface that is mostly covered in small solar cells.
One problem we can see with the model is that usually cell phones are kept in our pockets. We debated this issue here and decided that we probably wouldn’t use the solar charging everyday, but it would be nice to have in a pinch.
Additionally the model has 1.3 megapixel digital camera, a cardslot, and some other nice features. The model isn’t even close to being released in the United States, but HTW claims that they will be selling the model in China next month.
The HTW S116 will give users 25 minutes of usage after 40 minutes of solar charging, not bad! This would be perfect for days when you forget to plug your phone in. You would definitely never have to buy a charger.
