Sprint Nextel Announces Fan Vote For Last Spot At NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge

Sprint LogoOne lucky team will be chosen for this year’s NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge by the fans, according to an announcement by Sprint Nextel. The fans will be voting on their Sprint Nextel handsets starting Sunday April 1 and the event is to be held May 19.

The race will have drivers that have won a points race in ‘06 and ‘07, active drivers who have won the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge during the last 10 seasons, and active drivers who have won the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series championship during the last 10 seasons. The fans will choose one out of the top 50 drivers who haven’t already qualified.

Sprint Customers Get GPS Navigation

Earlier this morning, Sprint accounced that they will be including GPS navigation in two of their existing data packages, at no additional charge. They have also created a new data pack, called the Sprint Power Vision(SM) Navigation Pack.

Sprint isn’t the first service provider to offer GPS navigation, Verizon has been offering it for a while, but they are the first to offer it at no additional charge to some of their customers. Sprint will include the feature at no addtional charge in the Sprint Power Vision Ultimate Pack and the Sprint Power Vision Business Pack, which both cost $25.

Sprint has announced that they will have a variety of College hoops content available to their mobile users.

Sprint customers will be able to watch approximately 300 shows on their wireless handsets, via Sprint Power View. They are also offering a handset tournament bracket tracker.

Sprint Nextel’s Director of Board Resigns

Sprint Nextel has announced that their board’s director, William E. Kennard, has resigned, effective March 1, 2007. Kennard has served as director of the board since the Nextel acquisition in August, 2005.
